The Stockwell Charitable Trust has organised ‘Sculpture at Kingham Lodge’ (SaKL) show for charity since 2011. Sculpture at Kingham Lodge is a biennial event set in a beautiful 6 acre private garden in Oxfordshire, open to the public for just 10 days in aid of charity. Hundreds of sculptures are displayed for sale supporting local, national and international charities.
Since 2014, SaKL has invited schools to exhibit. Initially only a couple of schools took part, but by 2021 six schools exhibited because SaKL offered to pay for a professional artist to help them with their creations. That was the beginning of our realisation about how non-existent art in schools had become. In 2023 we asked thirty local schools what help was needed…
It quickly became clear that the Trust needed to deliver a dedicated schools programme – ‘Cotswold Arts Through Schools’ – “CATS” – was born! By the 2023 sculpture show, twenty schools exhibited with support from CATS/ SaKL.
Sculpture at Kingham Lodge is set in a private garden, not otherwise open to the public. In May 2027 you will again be able to enjoy sculpture from British and Zimbabwean artists, and of course, all our supported schools showing their work.
